About Us

The Macclesfield Law Society was founded in the 1930's and provides a service to members of the profession either practising in or resident in an area roughly equal to the current Macclesfield Borough Council (plus for some reason Congleton!). This includes not only Macclesfield itself but also Knutsford in the west, Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and, stretching north, Poynton and into the foothills of the Pennines to the east.

The Society provides a social environment in which legal issues of the day can be discussed; an opportunity for training courses on the busy practitioner's doorstep; a source of information for the general public about the solicitors' practices in the locality (see map). The Society has been the channel for charitable fundraising at various functions in the past, a practice re-instituted last year at the Annual Dinner when over £700 was raised for the President's chosen charity, the St Francis House Children's Hospice.

The St Francis House Childrens Charity East Cheshire Hospice

This year, £850 was raised for the East Cheshire Hospice.

The Society has amongst its membership the great majority of solicitors practising in the area covering a wide range of specialisms. This site has links with many of the local practices. Shop for the person for the job from the comfort of your armchair!
